HARRISBURG, NC - Petey's Promise celebrated their one year birthday/ anniversary Wednesday, July 22nd with the Kannopolis Intimidators. Not only did Petey be throwing out the first pitch, but all the fans joined together to sing Happy Birthday to Petey during one of the first three innings.

Give blood, help save a life, and get a free haircut while you’re at it.
Sport Clips in North and South Carolina partner with Carolinas Blood Services to increase August Blood Donations.
Sport Clips men’s and boy’s hair care providers in North and South Carolina will give you a free haircut when you donate blood through a Carolinas American Red Cross donor center during the month of August.
Matt Lewis, Sport Clips area developer for North Carolina, a regular blood donor, is heading up the effort to increase blood donations, along with Sport Clips South Carolina Area Developer Rosemary Gozur, and Sport Clips team members at 51 stores.
“Blood donations taper off in the summer due to vacations and holidays, and we hope to encourage more donors to take the time to give by offering them a free haircut as a bonus,” says Lewis. “Shortages in blood banks can be critical at the end of the summer, right before the Labor Day holiday. If we can promote blood donations during August, guys can help save a life and have the added bonus of a free ‘fall’ or ‘back to campus’ haircut while they’re at it.”
Carolina Blood Services Region CEO Robert “Bob” Fechner says, “The summer holiday season is a time when we all look forward to family gatherings and celebrations of the season. Sadly, some people cannot be with their families because they are in hospitals in need of blood or platelet transfusions not just to get well, but often just to survive. While most of us get swept up in the spirit of the holidays, let’s not forget there is a need for blood. This season should be recognized for what it truly is – a chance to give the gift of life for those in need.”
Blood donations drop as much as 15 percent during summer months, according to Carolina Blood Services. In North Carolina 1,600 people must give blood and platelets each weekday, and in South Carolina 500 donations per weekday are needed to meet hospital demand across 157 hospitals.

Third Annual Kannapolis Kares Day on Tap
The City of Kannapolis, North Carolina will be hosting the third annual Kannapolis Kares Day Saturday, September 20, 2008.
On this day of city-wide community service, the City actively seeks volunteer activities from civic, educational, neighborhood, business and religious organizations.
“We are excited to be coordinating our third annual Kannapolis Kares Day,” said Kannapolis Community Outreach Coordinator Renee Goodnight. “Each year the event has grown larger, and we’re looking forward to making the event a permanent fixture on the City’s calendar.”

Cabarrus County Red Cross "Snowflake Breakfast"
On January 25th, 2008, before the frost thawed from the cars a group of people traveled to the Embassy Suites Hotel in Concord to participate in the American Red Cross
"Snow Flake Breakfast".
The morning was spent listening to Guest Speaker Mike Minter who gave a powerful speech about Time, Talent & Treasures.
Mr. Minter encouraged everyone to take an active part in their community and to share with one another. Mr. Minter was
also appointed an Honorary Board Chairman of the Cabarrus County American Red Cross Chapter.
All proceeds from this event went to support the local
Cabarrus County Red Cross Chapter.

Road Closure - Cabarrus County, NC
Chestnut Avenue will be closed on Jan. 2, 2008, for approximately two months.
The effected areas are from Dale Earnhardt Boulevard to the construction zone at the
North Carolina Research Campus.
The work will be performed by Blythe Development.
The closure is to facilitate the construction of the Northeast Medical Building located at
the old Curb Motorsports site.
